Know what you Eat - This is a traditional South Indian fried Savoury and prepared with Rice flour and little bit of Urad (White lentil flour). Not to boast much on nutritional benefits they are very crispy and you can't stop eating once you start. So try to practice portion control on these balls.
Ingredients
Rice Flour - 1 Cup
White broken Urad Gram - 1 1/2 Tbsp
Butter - 2 Tbsp( Instead of butter, heat 2 tbsp of oil and replace it for a vegan version)
Salt - 1 tsp or to taste
Asafoetida powder - pinch
Oil for frying
Water
Method
1) Dry roast the white broken urad gram till you get a nice aroma they are slightly brown in color.
2) Now transfer these into a small blender and powder into a fine powder and pass it through a sieve to filter any big particles.
3) Mix the urad powder with rice flour, add salt, butter at room temperature and asafoetida and little bit of water and make a stiff dough.
4) Heat oil in a pan.
5) Take small amounts of this dough in your hand and roll them into tiny balls the size in the photo and fry them in oil till they are golden and crisp.
6) After rolling these balls, keep them covered so they don't dry up and crack before frying.
