Chunky Avocado Dip/Guacamole Dip

Know what you eat: Want to reduce your cholesterol intake?

1. Try fresh avocado on sandwiches and toast or substitute as a spread in place of many other popular foods to reduce your intake of cholesterol, calories, fat, saturated fat, and sodium.
2. Avocados contribute nearly 20 vitamins, minerals and beneficial plant compounds that can contribute to the nutrient quality of your diet, which can also be a part of a calorie-reduced diet.
3. And due to their mono and polyunsaturated fat content, are a great substitution for foods rich in saturated fat.
4. The avocado's smooth, creamy consistency makes it one of the first fresh fruits a baby can enjoy. Sodium- and cholesterol- free, avocados contain valuable nutrients including 8% of the recommended Daily Value (DV) for folate; 4% DV for fiber and potassium, 4% DV for vitamin E; and 2% DV for iron.
5. Avocados act as a "nutrient booster" by enabling the body to absorb more fat-soluble nutrients, such as alpha- and beta-carotene as well as lute in, in foods that are eaten with the fruit.
6. This "Nutrient booster" Avocado dip goes to Siri's Corner - Healing Food- Avocado.

Avacado_Cilantro Dip

Ingredients:

4 ripe hass Avocado's
1/2 C Fresh Cilantro, chopped
Juice of one lemon/lime
Salt & Pepper to taste

Method:

1.  Mash three riped avocado's, with a fork, add lemon juice, cilantro, salt - pepper mix everything, and keep it aside.
2.  Now dice the remaining avacado and add in above mixture..its thats simple. Enjoy!!

Note:
1. Always choose greenish black riped hass avacado variety to make this dip.
2. This dip is always prepared fresh...Avacado gets easily oxidized in contact with air..to avoid its browning make sure you add enough lemon juice.

Chunky Guacamole Dip:

Use all the above ingredients along with 2 Cloves of garlic - mashed, 1 Medium tomato -chopped, 1 medium onion - chopped, 1/8 tsp Tabasco sauce.

Put all ingredients in blender and mix until consistency of cottage cheese. Serve with whole or multi grain tortillas / favorite chips.

Thanks for sharing the right type of fruit to buy. I had a tree in the previous home and the avocados were not good quality. What my maid used to purchase for me was ripe...just right to eat right away. The recipe seems interesting.

Love the avocado dip! Even more, love the health benefits of avocado.. I sort of knew they are good for you, but didn't really know more than mono-unsaturated fats. Reducing cholesterol is something always on my mind, this one works perfect!
